Riki is an intern pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at John Carroll University, after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science with concentrations in Psychology and Child Life, including coursework in therapeutic play and trauma-informed practices.
Throughout her academic pursuits, Riki has had unique opportunities to apply her knowledge and skills, including interning in a Child Development Center on a NATO base abroad and exploring family dynamics, relationships, and the application of counseling in Vietnam. These experiences have been formative for Riki, as she aspires to continue supporting the socioemotional well-being of children, adolescents, and emerging adults.
Riki utilizes an eclectic approach, drawing from person-centered and cognitive behavioral practices. She remains committed to expanding her knowledge and skill set in dialectical behavior therapy and therapeutic play to support clients.
Riki enjoys supporting children, adolescents, and emerging adults with anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. Notably, she has a special interest in supporting individuals with eating disorder behaviors and body image concerns. Life is full of obstacles, and Riki hopes to walk alongside clients on their journeys, providing a warm, empathetic, and safe relationship as they navigate life’s challenges. Riki values authenticity and fun in her work, as she, too, is human! She encourages clients to come as they are, fostering a nonjudgmental, caring environment for exploration and growth.
Riki has her Counselor Trainee license in Ohio and is under the supervision of Katie Marchinchin, LPCC-S.
