Julia is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University and completing her practicum at NEO Counseling Services as a Counselor Trainee in the state of Ohio.
Julia enjoys working with adolescents and young adults who may be navigating anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, or major life changes. She knows that starting counseling can feel uncomfortable or intimidating, especially when opening up to someone new. Because of this, Julia focuses on creating a warm, relaxed, and judgment-free space where clients can feel comfortable being themselves and talking openly about what they are going through.
Julia takes a person-centered and collaborative approach to counseling, meaning she believes clients should feel like an active part of the process rather than feeling like someone is simply telling them what to do. She also incorporates techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness based on each client’s individual needs and goals. Julia believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling and enjoys helping clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop practical coping skills, and build confidence as they work toward positive changes in their lives.
Julia also has a special interest in animal-assisted therapy and hopes to pursue additional education and training in this area as she continues growing as a counselor.
